In 1960, a man named Haji Jan Muhammad began making khoya (a solid form of milk that’s similar to cheese) and ghee (a type of clarified butter) from his small town of Shikarpur, in the Sindh province of Pakistan. His company, now known as Rehmat-e-Shereen, soon began selling savory snacks and, later, sweet treats, like these buttery cookies which are loaded with crunchy almond pieces.
