Cocoa-Coated Danish Spice Cookies. PeberNødder, or Pepper Nuts, are considered a perfectly spiced, bite sized cookie that is emblematic of the holidays for most Danish people. They’re one of the oldest Christmas cookies in Denmark, first appearing in the 1400s. They’re perfect for eating by the handful, crispy, and spiced to have the sweetest, most delicious flavor to them. While these yummy cookies used to be made from powdered antler (Santa’s reindeer are shocked!), this fell out of favor in modern times. But ours have another delicious ingredient: cocoa! The warm cocoa coating complements the richness of the spices in the cookies perfectly.
